In a move designed to increase sales in North America, Sophos Ltd. has announced a distribution agreement with D&H Distributing Co.
Currently there are about 2,500 Sophos resellers in North America, and more than 16,000 worldwide. Now D&H’s 25,000 resellers in North America will be able to offer Sophos security products to their customers. D&H, which is headquartered in Harrisburg Penn., distributes IT and electronics products through VARs, solution providers and systems integrators to end-user customers primarily in SMB, education and government.

The benefits to channel partners who work through D&H will include convenient ordering, the ability to offer D&H financing programs to customers, and eligibility for the D&H Reseller Rewards program.
Sophos partners currently receive margins ranging from 20% to 30% when working directly with Sophos, said Matt Fogelgren, director of North American channel sales at Abington U.K.-based Sophos. He added, “We expect they will receive equally fantastic margins when working with D&H.”
D&H’s resellers have the option of joining the Sophos Global Partner Program, which gives them access to the Sophos Partner Portal, a dedicated Sophos channel manager, the use of Not For Resale (NFR) software for demonstration and training purposes, and sales and engineering support from Sophos to help them close deals. The Sophos Partner Portal provides online product training for Sophos’ threat management and data protection software products.
With this announcement, Sophos will add its product and marketing information to the D&H website. According to Fogelgren, the benefits to channel partners who work through D&H to sell Sophos products will include convenient ordering, the ability to offer D&H financing programs to customers, and eligibility for the D&H Reseller Rewards program.
The announcement was made just days after Sophos was publicly criticized during a presentation at Black Hat 2011 for flaws in its security products.
