Apple defends wireless security; flaws crop up anyway |

After bristling over a presentation at last month's Black Hat briefings in Las Vegas that implied the wireless security for Apple laptops wasn't up to par, Apple execs launched a new search for security gaps in its WiFi setup.
Today the company released patches for three previously undiscovered vulnerabilities none of which were related to the exploit demonstrated at Black Hat.
One of the vulnerabilities involves the potential for stack buffer overflows in the process the AirPort wireless card driver uses to handle malformed frames. The second is a heap buffer overflow flaw in the way AirPort's driver handles scan-cache updates. The third is an integer overflow in the driver's API for other vendors' wireless software.
Apple released the fix late Thursday.
